CBETA uses page-number cross-references for three editions of the Manji Zokuzōkyō (Xuzangjing). In order of editorial completion, they are as follows:

• Z: Zokuzokyo – Manji Dainihon Zokuzōkyō (Manji Zokuzōkyō). Kyoto: Zōkyō Shoin.《卍大日本續藏經》(卍續藏)。京都：藏經書院。
• R: Reprint – Manji Zokuzōkyō (Shinwenfeng Facsimile Reprint). Taipei: Shinwenfeng.《卍續藏經．新文豐影印本》。台北：新文豐。
• X: Xuzangjing – Manji Shinsan Dainihon Zokuzōkyō (Manji Shinsan Zokuzōkyō). Tokyo: Kokushokankōkai.《卍新纂大日本續藏經》(卍新纂續藏)。東京：國書刊行會。

When citing passage sources, CBETA lists the three editions side by side: first Manji Shinsan Zokuzōkyō (X), then Manji Zokuzōkyō (Z), and finally Manji Zokuzōkyō (R).

For example: CBETA, X78, no. 1553, p. 420, a4-5 // Z 2B:8, p. 298, a1-2 // R135, p. 595, a1-2

Their formatting and page conversion methods are briefly outlined below.

Z: Manji Dainihon Zokuzōkyō (Manji Zokuzōkyō)

The original uses the format “編 Series · 套 Case · 冊 Volume”: 3 series, totaling 150 cases, for a total of 750 volumes.

The relationship between series and cases is as follows:

Series 1: Cases 1–95
Series 2: Cases 1–32
Series 2B: Cases 1–23

The binding method is as follows: every 5 volumes are bound into one set (函). Each set contains about 500–550 leaves (each leaf consisting of two sides/pages). Each leaf has 4 quadrants (upper right, lower right, upper left, and lower left, corresponding to columns 1–4, denoted a–d). Therefore, a reference such as “Z 2B:8, p. 298, a1-2” indicates:

Manji Dainihon Zokuzōkyō (Manji Zokuzōkyō), Series 2B · Case 8 · Leaf 298 · Column a · Lines 1–2.

This is recorded in the format “編 Series · 套 Case · 葉 Leaf · 欄 Column · 行 Line”.

R: Manji Zokuzōkyō (Taiwan Shinwenfeng Facsimile Reprint)

The Taiwan Shinwenfeng facsimile reprint uses the former (Manji Dainihon Zokuzōkyō) as its base text, but is published in 150 volumes with two columns per page. Each volume corresponds to one case in the old Z series:

R001 ~ 095 => Series 1, Cases 1–95
R096 ~ 127 => Series 2, Cases 1–32
R128 ~ 150 => Series 2B, Cases 1–23

In terms of format, a reference such as “R135, p. 595, a1-2” indicates:

Manji Zokuzōkyō (Taiwan Shinwenfeng Facsimile Reprint), Volume 135 · Page 595 · Upper column · Lines 1–2.

This is equivalent to “Z 2B:8, p. 298, a1-2” (Manji Dainihon Zokuzōkyō, Series 2B · Case 8 · Leaf 298 · Column a · Lines 1–2).

X: Manji Shinsan Dainihon Zokuzōkyō (Manji Shinsan Zokuzōkyō)

This edition is compiled from the Dainihon Zokuzōkyō, the Chinese Works section of the Japanese Collated Tripiṭaka, and several newly added texts. It comprises 88 volumes of canonical texts, along with 2 volumes containing the general table of contents, indexes, and introductory notes, totaling 90 volumes. Each page features three columns. A facsimile reprint by Baima is circulated in Taiwan. In terms of format, a reference such as “X78, no. 1553, p. 420, a4-5” indicates:

Manji Shinsan Dainihon Zokuzōkyō, Volume 78 · Text no. 1553 · Page 420 · Upper column · Lines 4–5.

This corresponds to the above “Z 2B:8, p. 298, a1-2” or “R135, p. 595, a1-2”. *Note: Because this edition includes more texts, the Copy & Cite citations for these additions lists only the X edition.
