For a long time, suggestions for revisions provided by Dharma friends in letters or published in journal articles and other media have been an important resource for us to continuously improve the CBETA Buddhist scriptures.
In the spirit of openness and transparency, we record your contributions in the relevant databases and web pages of CBETA. We list the name of the revision provider and indicate the text, punctuation, or data format for the revision.
In accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act, if any legal friends do not want their contributions to be made public, please feel free to write to us and we will respect and comply with your wishes and not disclose your information
Since its inaugural meeting in 1998, the “China Electronic Buddhist Texts Association” (hereinafter referred to as CBETA) has discussed and coordinated various tasks through the monthly “CBETA Monthly Meeting” (chairman, vice chairman, consultant, director-general, and all colleagues) to complete the collection of electronic Buddhist scriptures of the past dynasties (“Taizheng Collection”, “Swastika Collection”, “Jiaxing Collection”, and “Supplement to the Collection of Tibetan Scriptures” of the past dynasties…… ）。 As for the “new modern literature”, it is also based on the degree of common demand in the Buddhist academic community and whether it can be authorized, for example, in 2018, the “Complete Works of Venerable Yin Shun” was added; From 2019 to 2020, the “Collection of Buddhist Works of Lu Cheng” was added; In 2021-2022, the “Complete Book of Taixu Masters” will be added. There are also lists of books to be included by experts: the works of Master Hongyi, the complete works of Master Yinguang, Yang Wenhui’s “The Posthumous Works of Yang Renshan”, Ouyang Jingwu’s “Selected Writings of Ouyang Gradual”, Liang Qichao’s “Eighteen Articles on Buddhist Studies” and other works.
In August 2023, CBETA transformed into the “Buddhist Electronic Buddhist Texts Foundation” (hereinafter referred to as the CBETA Foundation), and continues to discuss and coordinate various tasks through the monthly “CBETA Monthly Meeting” (Chairman, CEO, Advisors, Director General, and all colleagues) and the newly added monthly “CBETA Thematic Monthly Meeting” (Chairman, CEO, Advisors, Director General, and heads of departments). In order to respond to the “Modern Buddhist Writings”, we are preparing for the “CBETA Advisory Committee” to convene “Review Group Meetings” in different fields to establish a review system for new modern texts to be collected in the future.
Suggestions and lists will be included in the record and considered by the Advisory Committee after it has been established. However, due to the large number of classics to be reviewed, and the limited manpower and resources of CBETA, in principle, they will be processed in the order in which they are submitted, and the exact time of inclusion cannot be provided.
CBETA is an electronic Buddhist text provider, i.e., an “electronic Buddhist text integration” that continuously revises the content through digital technology, rather than a single authoritative “electronic Tripitaka”, so it does not look at all the collected materials from the perspective of “collection”. CBETA also does not make value judgments on the authenticity of the Buddhist scriptures themselves, such as the superiority of sectarian teachings. Our readers include Buddhists and non-religious readers, such as academics and believers of other religions. In terms of circulation and application, electronic Buddhist texts are more convenient than traditional paper texts. If it involves the field of inheritance and practice in the teaching world, readers are invited to return to the Buddha’s teachings and learn from the knowledge of goodness.

In the early days, we used English + numbers, and then we tried to change it to the name.
However, the warp name is a Chinese character, and some systems will process it into garbled characters, and some are the problem that the warp name is too long, or the warp name has a group of words, Unicode rare words, and some systems cannot read it normally.
Therefore, it is necessary to restore the numbering so that the most people can use it smoothly.
